I would like to clarify my views on the recent Supreme Court judgement allowing women of all ages to enter Sabarimalai temple. In an interview, Makkal Needhi Maiam President Kamal Haasan has said and I would like to tell the same, It is the same situation where people belonging to lower – castes were not allowed inside the temples. Religious people had also opposed when lower – caste people (untouchables) were allowed inside temples.

But, that changed gradually. Similarly, now these people oppose women entering Sabarimalai temple. All revolutionary changes will face some opposition, but they will surely be understood later. It is every individual’s wish whether to believe in God and follow any religion or not. Likewise, it is every individual’s wish to go to any temple. So, the people who are opposing women’s entry into Sabarimalai have to understand that temples are meant for everyone – irrespective of caste and gender. This situation will also change like the earlier one.
